Sizing
A number on a listing does not tell you what a piece looks like on a person. This page explains what our measurements mean and how to check them against yourself, so you can order once.
The Everyday Cuban
One width and one length. 5mm wide, 20 inches long, in 316L stainless steel with a lobster clasp.
What 5mm means
5mm is the measurement across the face of a link, not the thickness of the whole chain. Chains are usually photographed close up, which makes any of them look heavier than they are.
For scale, 3mm reads as a thin thread from any distance and 11mm is the width people mean when they call a chain heavy. 5mm sits between them. Visible against a shirt, not the first thing anyone notices.
If a product photo and a measurement disagree, trust the measurement.
What 20 inches means
On an average adult frame, a 20 inch chain sits just below the collarbone. It is the most common length for a chain worn against the skin or under a shirt collar.
Shorter chains sit tight around the base of the neck. Longer ones fall to mid chest and sit over a t-shirt rather than against you. We sell the one in the middle.
Checking it against a chain you own
- Unclasp a chain you already like and lay it flat.
- Measure from one end of the clasp to the other, including the clasp.
- If that number is close to 20 inches, ours will sit where yours does.
No chain to measure? Use a piece of string. Hold it around your neck where you want the chain to sit, mark it, and measure the string flat.
The Band
A flat ring, 4mm wide with a 1.8mm wall, in US sizes 6 to 12. Every size is the same width and profile. Only the diameter changes.

Measuring your finger
- Wrap a strip of paper or a piece of string around the base of the finger.
- Mark where it overlaps.
- Measure the marked length in millimetres. That is your circumference.
- Find the closest number in the table.
Two things throw this off. Fingers are larger at the end of the day and in warm weather, so measure in the evening. And the ring has to clear your knuckle, so if your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, size up.
Between two sizes, go up. A ring slightly loose is wearable. A ring slightly tight is not.
The Infinity
One length rather than a size range. To check it will fit, wrap a piece of string around your wrist just below the wrist bone, mark it, and measure it flat. Most adult wrists fall between 150mm and 190mm.

The Initial
A rectangular pendant on a box chain, available A through Z. The pendant face is 17mm wide and 25mm tall including the bail, a little under an inch. The chain is 20 inches, measured clasp to clasp with the pendant excluded.
Pendant photos are shot close up, so they always look larger than they are. The face is almost exactly the width of a dime.

Email plainlyjewelry@gmail.com within 14 days of delivery and tell us what you ordered and what went wrong. We would rather sort out a sizing problem than have you keep something you do not wear.
